About the Department
The Southern Recreation & Leisure Services Division is hiring passionate, creative, and versatile Seasonal Homeschool Instructors to lead engaging educational experiences for students in a variety of subjects. Ideal candidates will foster curiosity, creativity, and collaboration while supporting individualized learning in a safe and inclusive environment. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Work Hours: Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

- Arts, Crafts & Hobbies Instructor
- Social Time & Study Hall Tutors
- Performing Arts/Dance and Cheer
Position Duties
- STEM/Science Teacher Responsibilities
- Design and deliver hands-on lessons in science, technology, engineering, and math
- Integrate robotics, coding, and engineering concepts into instruction
- Create project-based learning experiences that promote innovation and problem-solving
- Lead extracurricular STEM activities such as clubs or competitions
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Collaborate with families and staff to support student success.
- Arts, Crafts & Hobbies Instructor Responsibilities
- Teach age-appropriate classes in painting, drawing, jewelry making, and more
- Adapt instruction to various learning styles and skill levels
- Foster creativity and self-expression through hands-on activities
- Organize student showcases and project-sharing events
- Maintain safe use of tools and materials.
- Social Time & Study Hall Tutor Responsibilities
- Supervise and facilitate structured social interaction and peer engagement.
- Provide academic support and guidance during study hall periods.
- Encourage positive communication, teamwork, and respectful behavior.
- Monitor student progress and offer individualized assistance as needed.
- Performing Arts/Dance/Cheer Instructor Responsibilities
- Lead engaging classes in dance, cheerleading, theater, and movement-based performing arts
- Teach foundational techniques in choreography, stage presence, vocal expression, and physical coordination
- Develop routines and performances for student showcases and community events
- Encourage teamwork, confidence, and creative expression through group activities
- Adapt instruction to accommodate various skill levels and learning styles
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for physical activity and performance.
Minimum Qualifications
STEM/Science Teacher Qualifications Associate’s degree in STEM-related field OR teaching certification preferred Experience working with children or teens in educational settings Strong knowledge of scientific principles and emerging technologies Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Arts, Crafts & Hobbies Instructor Qualifications - Associate's degree or certification in Art Education or related field preferred
- Experience teaching or mentoring youth in creative disciplines
- Knowledge of diverse artistic techniques and mediums
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Social Time & Study Hall Tutor Qualifications Experience working with children or teens in educational or recreational settings Ability to support academic and social development in small groups Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
Performing Arts/Dance/Cheer Instructor Qualifications Associate's degree or certification in Performing Arts, Dance Education, or related field preferred Experience teaching dance, cheer, theater, or performing arts to children or teens Knowledge of age-appropriate choreography, performance techniques, and safety practices Strong communication, motivational, and classroom management skills.
Other Qualifications
This position is Seasonal/part-time. This position is not eligible for benefits.
Must successfully pass a complete background investigation.
May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.
Work Environment:
Instruction takes place in classrooms, makerspaces, community centers, and outdoor learning environments. Instructors must be comfortable with hands-on teaching and flexible learning formats.
