Position Summary


The shift supervisor position supervises and coordinates activities of workers on a particular shift while working with management to increase efficiencies in all production areas.  This is a working supervisor position. 


Position will require press operating coverage at times.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the first response to safety, quality, and productivity troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in all aspects of flexographic press operations.
    • Monitors product for quality during job runs, checks precision of detail against  specifications, and takes action to correct any problems.
    • Monitors equipment during job runs, remains alert to mechanical problems and corrects or refer to maintenance as necessary.
    • Perform periodic cleaning/maintenance of the press or as needed to ensure proper operation.
  • Able to adjust respective shift schedule for proper coverage in the absence of      supervisor. 
  • Able to run and understand reports using the company’s ERP system.
  • Actively participates in audits.
  • Understand shop floor metrics and being responsible for the teams’ results versus targets.
  • Assists in scheduling jobs in the department/shift.
  • New employee engagement and training support
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.
  • Maintain strict attention to detail.
  • Attend trainings, meeting, and management collaborations and implement those items in production.
  •  Issue written and oral instructions.
  • Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers.
  • Maintain harmony among workers and resolve grievances. Identify employees’ skills and develop them by coaching and counseling employees on a regular basis.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and provide continual feedback on both positive and negative performance.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Track absenteeism and timekeeping.
  • Perform accident investigations.
  • Assist in hiring process for assigned shift.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic issues with press and inspection equipment and/or operators struggling to run.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a production environment.
  • 2-3 years experience managing staff, including responsibility for hiring and performance appraisal
