Design Engineer

OVERVIEW
We’re looking for a Design Engineer to join our Bike Computer team in Colorado Springs, helping to build the future of the interface that supports cyclists worldwide. This role is ideal for someone comfortable taking ownership of their work, pursuing creative design solutions, and working in a cross-functional team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Collaborate with a cross-functional team to scope, design, validate, and mass produce novel consumer electronic products in the cycling industry.
· Participate in our feedback-driven culture for product design and personal development.
· Bring enthusiasm to learning, teaching, and evolving core engineering tools we use to create our products.
· Create component and assembly CAD models and associated engineering drawings.
· Maintain high-quality documentation in development and for manufacturing.
· Deliver optimized designs balancing features, reliability, size, weight, and cost.
· Lead materials or component research, selection, and validation.
· Guide and provide input to testing static/dynamic effects, performance, reliability, and field failure analysis across the product life-cycle.
· Conduct design reviews.
· Mitigate design risks using tools such as GD&T, DFM, DFMA, DFMEA, and FEA processes.
· Provide input for reliability testing systems, and hardware for manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
· Maintain CAD, BOM, and PLM systems using best practices. Experience with CREO and Windchill is beneficial.
· Collaborate with Program Management to anticipate and resolve development bottlenecks.
· Coordinate across teams and contractors to meet development timelines.
· Ensure patent protection of novel concepts in partnership with legal, electrical engineering, software engineering and industrial design.
· Manage relationships with stakeholders, including vendors, consultants, and other external partners.
· Travel to manufacturing locations in Taiwan and SE Asia for development phase builds.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or related degrees required. MS preferred.
- 3+ years of experience designing consumer or industrial hardware products.
- CAD experience desired in the following areas: 3D parametric solid modeling, creating and managing assemblies, layout and detailing of drawings, GD&T, and change management systems. CREO experience is preferred.
- Exceptional communication, teamwork, and relationship skills.
- Ability to recognize, learn, and accept cultural differences and work in a flexible and changing work environment, both alone and within teams.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to four times per year for approximately one week at a time
- This role is onsite in Colorado Springs, CO. Non-local candidates will be expected to relocate.
