Description
The Belfast Community Co-op is hiring for a Prepared Foods Clerk to play a critical role in the Prepared Foods department by offering fast, efficient, and friendly service and maintaining a fully stocked, organized, and clean department and cafe space. Prepared Foods Clerks handle cashiering at the cafe register, answer questions from customers about prepared food options, perform regular light cleaning of the cafe, packaging and labeling grab and go items, and stock prepared foods into the cases. This position also keeps the coffee station full, replenishes condiments, and may also help cut, wrap, and stock cheese as needed.

This is a Full-time position (30+ hours weekly) - morning and weekend availability is required.
Starting wage is $16.50/hour.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs cashier duties with accuracy and efficiency
- Provides prompt, pleasant, and accurate service to customers
- Communicates needs to kitchen staff
- Refills prepared foods grab-n-go coolers and food stations as directed
- Communicates low or out-of-stock items to kitchen leadership
- Ensures a clean and organized cafe by regular cleaning and tidying
- Keeps coffee station fully stocked
- Keeps condiments station fully stocked
- Assists the cheese buyer as requested
- Wash dishes as requested, ensuring appropriate sanitation methods are followed
- Maintains customer service stations with appropriate supplies of all related items (cups, bowls, lids, utensils, etc.)
- Communicates with Facilities Department staff on compost, trash, and recycling removal

- Wears any required uniform (nametag, apron, chef coat, etc.) so as to be easily identifiable to customers and able to work safely (hair covering, closed toed shoes, etc.)

- Approaches work with a positive attitude
- Collaborates with others to find solutions and accepts solutions once determined
- Continues to learn and develop knowledge as it relates to the position, co-op, and industry

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, and abilities)
Preferred:
- Experience with dishwashing in a commercial kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food safety guidelines
- Basic knife skills
Minimum:
- Effectively communicate in a high-volume work environment
- Ability to assess and prioritize tasks based on external indicators
- Safely work in an commercial kitchen environment

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must be able to maintain focus in an environment that has multiple levels of noise, and the need to prioritize demands for attention.
