About the role
As Sr. Production Supervisor, you will play a key leadership role in driving the daily operations of the production area, ensuring that all activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will lead a cross-functional team to deliver production stream goals aligned with Kerry.
This is a full-time, permanent, on-site role based in Owatonna, working Monday to Thursday and Fridays as needed. You’ll be part of a small team about 45 people, where collaboration is natural and cross-functional networking is part of everyday life.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, organize and direct optimum day-to-day operations to consistently meet our customers’ expectations and deliver Safety, Quality, Cost, and KPI attainment
- Ensure delivery of the production plan in conjunction with the Plant Manager
- Becomes expert in department operations- Batching, Agglomeration, Sifting, Milling, Blending, Bagging, SAP, and any other process streams by understanding & coordinating the equipment operation, procedures, SQF, HACCP, GMP, Safety, sanitation, preventative maintenance programs and personnel capabilities.
- Drive the people agenda including recruitment, training, and performance management This includes activities such as corrective actions, annual review process, training, coaching, counseling, conflict resolution, and other discipline of staff.
- Foster positive employee relations and engagement, aligned with company values.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for capacity, efficiency, and quality
- Support department inventories in collaboration with supply chain.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and customer-specific requirements.
- Utilizes SAP and other software to perform transaction functions for materials flow
- Coordinate and own training program for new and existing production team members on all relevant policies, equipment and programs and manage documentation of training.
- Work with the Manufacturing Assistant to ensure that SPLs, working instructions and process descriptions are up to date, accurate and accessible to all team members. Assures all procedures and instructions are adhered to in the production process.
- Reports all equipment and instrumentation malfunctions immediately for repair and initiates maintenance work orders.
- Continually ensures and oversees the cleanliness, sanitation and appearance of the equipment, facility sanitation and housekeeping procedures to ensure compliance with established internal programs and regulatory codes.
- Maintains production tracking records, reports and spreadsheets to provide information and data for monthly reporting of production efficiency and monthly KPIs.
Qualifications and skills
- A four-year degree preferred in engineering, food technology or business.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in a related industry. Leadership experience is desirable.
- Experience with SAP is preferred.
- Continuous improvement understanding.
- Strong grasp of lean manufacturing principles and tools.
- Strong Safety Culture Mindset.
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative approach.
- Capacity to align the production stream strategy with that of the site, both in the short (1 year) and medium (5 years) term.
- Proactive in identifying and implementing improvements.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to be successful in a changing environment.
Compensation Data
The typical hiring range for this role is $91,404 to $154,009 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
