The Safety Performance & Critical Response Director is responsible for directing our PSIF and SIF incident investigation and follow-through processes in conjunction with the project and people management teams and the Safety & Health department.
- Responsible for ensuring the emergency response team is notified of safety incidents and responding as required to support those impacted.
- Direct the assembly of team and assign responsibilities for investigation & documentation preparation.
- Manage documentation and communication controls with Legal.
- Review and coach 5-Why root cause analysis and corrective actions development.
- Responsible for generation of Executive Summary document and facilitating executive review with GP & corporate leadership. This will include identifying opportunities to deliver coaching for management, leverage support as needed and align on “key learnings.”
- Responsible for production of the Incident Learning Opportunities (ILO) document.
- Facilitate a monthly review (with Corp safety and legal) and publication of ILO’s into database.
- Responsible for leading knowledge sharing by partnering with internal comms and safety councils to educate through various platforms (news flash, video, monthly GP meetings, etc).
- Partner with corporate safety to verify compliance with the follow-through of corrective actions.
- Responsible for process improvements using A.I. evaluation of PSIF/SIF decision tree, root cause analysis, and predictive indicators and trends.
- Serve as Custodian of Incident Management & Reporting documents to evaluate improvements, including ENT-HS-1170-SOP: Incident Reporting and Investigation, ENT-HS-1171-WI: Incident Investigation Root Cause Analysis, ENT-HS-1173-GDL: Incident Reporting and Investigation Guideline and associated forms.
- Lead GP’s leadership (through safety councils) in developing their own fit-for-purpose process for notification and participation in executive incident reviews.
- Responsible for the recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff.
- Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for department staff.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the department.
- Responsible for interpreting the organization's policies, purposes, and goals to staff.
- Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.
- Enforce compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or related degree from an accredited program and 14 years applicable experience required.
- Prior project management experience including experience managing construction projects.
- Prior experience with incident investigations and reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment, ability to overtime or short notice.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft office.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in a multi-disciplined project team environment to accomplish objectives.
- Experience with leadership development programs.
