Engineer Associate (Standardization – NPD) Internship

Role Overview
The Engineer Associate (Standardization – NPD) internship is designed for current engineering students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in standardization, document control, and cross-functional coordination. This is a long-term internship (12–18 months) with the potential to transition to a full-time role.
Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA and remain actively enrolled in an accredited engineering program. Accepted majors include Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.

Work Schedule: 16–25 hours per week during the school year (flexible around your class schedule)

Length of Internship: 12–18 months

Graduation window: Must be between 1–2 years away from graduation at time of hire

Start Date: Immediate availability preferred
Key Responsibilities

Gather document submittals from Engineering and collaborate with Supply Chain Management to retrieve and store standardized equipment supplier drawings

Train in and use document control systems to store documents and initiate approval workflows

Work with the configuration team to ensure product numbers and standard products are aligned and up to date

Write reports, create technical diagrams/flow charts, and present information effectively to teams

Utilize tools such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Visio for daily tasks

Perform multi-tasking and maintain effective multidisciplinary communication
Other Duties

Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals

Develop concepts to improve processes and reduce costs

Protect confidential information and maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity

Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures; report unsafe activities
Requirements
-
Actively enrolled in an accredited Engineering program (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial)

Minimum 3.0 GPA (must be maintained throughout internship)

Graduation within 1–2 years from hiring date (outside this range will not qualify)

Strong organizational, technical writing, and communication skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Visio
Physical Demands & Work Environment

Regularly required to sit and talk or hear; occasionally required to stand and walk

Occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds

Work environment is typically quiet; hearing protection may be required in some areas
