Responsibilities
As a Process Operator at CPC-Mining Chemical, your responsibilities will include:
- Making informed adjustments to operational processes to uphold safety protocols and meet quality and reliability targets.
- Promptly responding to process alarms and operational constraints to prevent disruptions.
- Executing safe startup and shutdown procedures for process equipment while coordinating with maintenance teams to ensure optimal equipment conditions.
- Monitoring plant performance by interpreting and analyzing data from flow meters, temperature gauges, pressure indicators, and other instrumentation.
- Operating Distributed Control Systems (DCS) within the control room environment to manage process variables effectively.
- Troubleshooting complex process issues leveraging strong technical knowledge and plant experience to minimize downtime.
- Collecting product samples for laboratory analysis to ensure compliance with product specifications and regulatory standards.
- Adhering strictly to company safety protocols including the Tenets of Operations, Chief Operating Officer’s directives, and Life Saving Rules.

- Maintaining cleanliness and order in work areas to support safety and operational efficiency.
- Handling chemical shipments responsibly, including loading and unloading from trucks or railcars according to established safety procedures.
- Providing training and knowledge-sharing sessions to empower team members and support continuous skills development.
- Participating in regulatory compliance activities such as Management of Change reviews, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), and Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs).
- Completing comprehensive shift turnover documentation and communication to ensure seamless operational continuity.
Your role is vital in maintaining uninterrupted production, ensuring safety compliance, and promoting an efficient working environment. You will be an integral part of a team committed to excellence and innovation in chemical manufacturing.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in petrochemical or refinery operations, or an associate degree in Process Technology or a related field supplemented by at least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent military experience with relevant process operation skills is also valued.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office suite and SAP systems.
- Capability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Physical ability to navigate plant environments, including climbing stairs and ladders up to 100 feet and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate and document operational activities.
- Proven track record of safety leadership and adherence to process safety management.
- Experience managing unit startups, shutdowns, and effectively reacting to upset conditions within a plant setting.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills encompassing both process and mechanical aspects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment pertinent to the same technology or process unit in question.
- Demonstrated capability working in supervisory roles or contributing to operational leadership.
