Description:
The NOC Systems/Network Engineer will provide the below:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide third-level support to the system engineering escalation process.
· Monitor the queue for any incoming escalations from helpdesk technicians and assist as necessary.
· Address escalations for Windows OS and Network infrastructure issues from Level 1 and Level 2 helpdesk associates.
· Work under the general guidance of the Director of Managed Services.
· Assist with basic-level solution configurations by leveraging technical expertise and other technical resources.
· Have at least one vendor technical specialty in which they are proficient (Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, Dell, SonicWall, Meraki, etc.).
· Active Directory skills – DNS modifications, Group Policy modifications, DFS management, etc.
· Able to identify problems, collect data, and resolve complex issues with the available data given.
· Provide routine patching for servers, networking equipment, and applications for security vulnerabilities. Troubleshoot any and all issues resulting from the regular patching process.
· Act as liaison with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
· Manage and maintain network adds/moves/changes across different client networks.
· Participate in the design of new projects as needed.
· Perform scheduled proactive network testing to ensure the network is functional and reliable.
· Independently troubleshoot LAN/WAN networking problems at all layers.
· Occasionally go on-site at client locations to perform installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of server and infrastructure issues. This may be required after hours and on weekends based on client needs.
· Assist in onboarding and remediation efforts at client sites.
· Participate in the business recovery and continuity processes, which may include working with others to test processes.
· Log all call activity in the ticketing system.
· Manage, own, and take responsibility for resolving all tickets assigned in a timely manner.
· Provide remote user support using remote support applications.
· Enter an on-call rotation within 1 to 3 months, shared with other engineers on staff, to handle escalations of critical issues after hours and on weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A successful individual will need to have the following skills/characteristics:
· Solid technical background with a broad range of technologies, including but not limited to operational experience with networking and security – routers, switches, IPS, ACS, and firewalls.
· Knowledge of TCP/IP, IPSEC and SSL VPN tunnels, SNMP protocols.
· Knowledge of security event remediation is a plus.
· Knowledge of VLANs, IP subnets, routing, switching, access lists, and traffic shaping.
· Cloud experience, preferably in Azure or AWS, is a plus.
· PC hardware/software support and network connectivity and communications.
· Administer Active Directory users and groups.
· Ability to quickly learn and follow complex procedures.
· Excellent customer service, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
· Professional verbal and written communication skills are a must.
· Customer-oriented, self-motivated, ambitious, and a dedicated team player.
· Willing to demonstrate a “do what it takes” ethic to ensure the timely resolution of client issues regardless of complexity.
· Must be able to lift 65 pounds (PCs, monitors, printers, etc. as needed).
This individual should also have the following experiences:
· 5 years of experience working on either Cisco/HP/Meraki networking platforms, Windows OS, or virtualization technologies (VMware, Citrix, etc.) in a large-scale environment.
· Familiarity with modern security tools like EDR and related incident management is a big plus.
· Ability to multitask and dynamically prioritize tasks with proven time management.
· Ability to think outside the box to implement innovative and effective solutions.
· Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
· Self-starter that exhibits a high level of attention to accurate detail.
· Ability to adapt quickly to obstacles and changing client demands.
· Work with other departmental teams to ensure projects meet client expectations.
· Demonstrated leadership skills.
Although not requirements, other desirable attributes include:
· College degree in technical or business, or equivalent industry experience.
· CCNA, CCNP, Microsoft, VMware/Azure/AWS certifications are highly desired.
· Industry certifications from manufacturers/vendors such as Apple, IBM, HP, and Dell.

This position is based in our Hauppauge, Long Island office. A valid driver’s license is required.
