Position: Staff Ensembles Accompanist
Department: College of Arts & Sciences
Status: Part Time
Position Summary:
The Staff Ensembles Accompanist will assist the Music Department as a collaborative pianist to accompany vocal ensembles. This is a part time position, and may be filled by one person or shared by more than one. The accompanist may also be requested perform some studio voice accompanying as part of the position duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide accompaniment for ensembles including University Choir, Campbell Voices, Opera Theater, University Choral Society, and Collegiate Singers during rehearsals and performances.
- Ability to work well with the vocal ensemble directors. Experience as a choral accompanist preferred
- Ability to sight read well is preferred
- Willingness to assist ensemble directors with rehearsal leadership, i.e. sectional rehearsals
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or
without notice.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Music. Work experience or education may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Two or more years of experience as a collaborative pianist preferred
- High level of technical and musical accomplishment on the piano, determined by an audition
