Role Purpose The role involves conducting qualitative reviews, ad-hoc investigations (including call/meeting reviews), and direct engagement with Wealth Managers and other client-facing staff. As part of a wider department, the team contributes to the overall monitoring programme, ensuring it remains robust and fit for purpose.

The Senior Manager will also be responsible for stakeholder engagement, risk management, audit resolution, and team development—ensuring the function operates with excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Oversight

  • Act as deputy to the Head of GCOM, leading strategic and ad-hoc projects as required.
  • Provide direction and oversight to the QR function, ensuring high standards, achievement of departmental objectives, and continuous improvement.

Monitoring & Governance

  • Develop and maintain the qualitative aspects of the monitoring programme to enhance operational efficiency and cost control.
  • Support the expansion of monitoring coverage without proportional cost increases.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to senior stakeholders, including participation in divisional risk and governance committees.

Policy, Process & Risk Management

  • Own and maintain departmental procedures, working guides, and checklists.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of departmental policies.
  • Lead the resolution of audit points and ensure effective risk controls are in place.

Team Contribution & Development

  • Conduct qualitative reviews and peer reviews as part of the team’s output.
  • Recruit, develop, and appraise team members, ensuring appropriate development plans are in place.
  • Manage a hybrid team, fostering collaboration and performance across remote and office-based staff.
Qualifications & Experience
  • GCSE (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
  • Minimum Level 4 CISI qualification or equivalent UK-recognised financial services certification.
  • Proven experience engaging with senior stakeholders and front-office practitioners.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
  • Comfortable managing hybrid teams and remote working environments.
Knowledge & Skills
  • In-depth understanding of UK wealth management, including investment and financial planning procedures and regulations.
  • Highly organised with a methodical approach to work.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and diligence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; articulate and diplomatic.
  • Resilient under pressure with excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Effective leadership and team management capabilities.
