Position Summary

The Nurse Manager provides leadership, direction, and coordination for nursing services within the hospital. This role ensures the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care to pediatric patients with co-occurring medical and behavioral health needs. The Nurse Manager will oversee nursing staff, support evidence-based practices, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to foster a therapeutic environment that prioritizes patient outcomes and family-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily nursing operations, staffing, and patient care delivery on assigned units.

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, promoting professional growth and accountability.

  • Ensure compliance with state nursing practice guidelines, hospital policies, and accreditation standards.

  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other disciplines to coordinate individualized care plans.

  • Support crisis intervention, de-escalation strategies, and behavioral health best practices.

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.

  • Serve as a role model for compassionate, patient-centered, and family-focused care.

  • Actively participate in recruitment, orientation, and retention of nursing staff.

  • Manage resources efficiently while maintaining cost-effective care delivery.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.

  • Licensure/Certification: Current Texas RN license (or compact license). Current AHA BLS certification; ACLS and PALS preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of pediatric or acute care nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience in behavioral health settings strongly preferred.
