Job Purpose

▪ To originate financing opportunities in the mining and critical minerals sector in the UK, Europe, Canada and select Middle Eastern countries (‘ME’) in order to increase revenues for the Mining and Critical Minerals business unit (‘MCM’) and identify cross-sell opportunities for Nedbank CIB (‘NCIB’)

▪ To assist MCM to expand into new geographies (UK, Europe and ME) by originating, building and maintaining client relationships

▪ To win arranging and funding mandates and to generate deal flow across NCIB by leveraging inter alia.

       o established relationships at the Chairman, CEO, CFO and Treasurer level;

       o new relationships at the Chairman, CEO, CFO and Treasurer level;

       o existing and new research platforms to identify client targets that support the investment case for the new geographies through a research-based approach and to determine NCIB’s ‘right-to-win’ in these locations;

      o strong market knowledge and industry experience with a proven track record in all spheres of mining investment banking, including mining finance;

      o the solution offerings and resources of NCIB; and

      o the expanded geographic mandate of MCM.

▪ Managing UK based relationships for MCM.

Job Responsibilities

• Engage new and existing clients at Chairman, CEO, CFO and Treasurer level from a strategic perspective to ascertain their treasury requirements and to deliver our full spectrum investment banking or mining finance solutions.

• Engage boutique resources debt and/or equity advisory firms and maintain relationships to generate deal flow.

• Engage resources equity investors and funds and the mining finance teams of other banks to generate deal flow.

• Map mining projects in the UK, Europe, Canada and ME by leveraging existing research platforms, including TSX listed companies with projects in the UK, Europe and ME.

• Analyse those mining projects to establish funding readiness.

• Deliver incremental revenue by originating debt financing mandates with new and existing clients that operate in the UK, Europe, Canada and ME.

• Retain business relationships with existing clients that are based in the UK, such as First Quantum Minerals Limited, Resolute Mining Limited, Capital Drilling, Endeavour Mining Plc, AngloGold Ashanti, Shanta Gold.

• Support transactors based in Johannesburg that are tasked with deal execution.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
  • Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree

Preferred Qualification

▪ Bachelor of Commerce (Honours)

▪ MBA

▪ Masters in finance

▪ Executive Management Education

Requirements

Senior investment banking professional with proven deal making abilities (demonstrated track record of originating deals)

Proven ability to network and interact with clients at all levels

Relevant investment banking experience, most of which will have been in a Senior Transactor role within a respected investment bank

Extensive knowledge of the mining sector, including industry experience at a senior management level

Extensive knowledge of financial markets and investment banking business models, products and services

High-level knowledge of relevant legislation for investment banking transactions where appropriate
