We are looking for a Partnering Lead - Immunology to join us in our External Innovation team, based in our Slough, UK offices.

 

About the role

The remit of the Partnering group includes, but is not limited to scouting, evaluating and facilitating in-licensing of external innovative drug discovery and development programs, to complement and enrich the UCB immunology portfolio. 

Additional activities include contributions to business negotiations, establishing research programs and organizing alliance management at early stages of collaborations and partnerships. In order to achieve these goals, the group has access to a large panel of experts and consultants, available both within and outside the organization.

 

Who you’ll work with

Reporting to the Head of Partnering and Scouting, the candidate will also be strongly encouraged to contribute to the internal portfolio by initiating or leading novel drug discovery approaches. 

 

What you’ll do

  • Using your existing network(s) or establishing new connections at external forums together with use of available search databases, the candidate will scout across pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and/or academia for external assets or programs aligned with UCB’s strategic therapeutic interests. 
  • The candidate will be expected to bring in ideas from the external environment to support/add to the internal UCB immunology pipeline as well as provide input into the strategy for the various research areas.
  • The function will also include acting as the due diligence expert lead/coordinator within a larger due diligence team, with the aim to pro-actively provide recommendations to decision committees.  In this capacity, you will be autonomous in,
    • critically assessing a range of preclinical and clinical data packages and
    • provide a broader recommendation on opportunities by delivering an integrated viewpoint to senior management.

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

  • PhD (or equivalent), with post-doctoral experience in immunology, pharmacology, cell biology or systems biology.
  • A mindset that is open to innovation and driven by science.
  • Clear understanding of the drug development process.
  • A general understanding of partnering processes with preferably some experience in partnering activities with external companies and organizations.
  • The capacity to understand, assess and evaluate the status, position and requirements of different external partners.
  • Work seamlessly across a multidisciplinary environment with different stakeholders (research, clinical, BD, legal, IP etc.).
