The Kitchen Associate will contribute to the mission, vision, and values of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation by providing high-quality food production and service for JCC programs, including mobile meals, school lunches, vending, and event catering.


This is a part-time position with varying responsibilities based on ongoing and seasonal program offerings and events, but may include the following:

  1. Ensure that kitchen and food preparation areas are clean, sanitized, and operational
  2. Engage in food prep to streamline cooking and meal preparation and package prepared meals for freezing
  3. Coordinate with management and cooks to receive, stock, and properly store food in kitchens and storerooms, transferring food and supplies to the kitchen as needed
  4. Prepare and serve food to students in the Early Learning Center lunch program following all state protocols
  5. Provide high-quality catering services including preparing and serving food for JCC programs and events
  6. Manage restocking of vending services at both Main and Logan campuses
  7. Engage in food prep to streamline cooking and meal preparation and package prepared meals for freezing and delivery
  8. Be familiar with and enact safety protocols and other policies to ensure the health and welfare of all members and guests, referring problems to appropriate staff as needed
  9. Communicate and cooperate with colleagues, members, and lay leaders as part of the JCC team, including attending staff meetings as needed
  10. Adhere to all JCC and departmental policies
  11. Complete all additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

The ideal candidate has very good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow directions and work as part of a team. Must have the ability to relate in a positive manner with members and fellow staff while providing exceptional customer service at all times. The ability to handle physical activities, stand and walk for long periods of time and lift weight in excess of 50 pounds is required. Experience in a kitchen environment is preferred. Must be available to work weekends, holidays and evenings.
