The salary range for this role is $55-64k, based on education and experience
Position Summary:
The Property Management Associate supports the daily operations of our affordable housing portfolio. This role assists Property Managers in ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining positive resident relations, and supporting leasing, rent collection, and administrative functions. The Associate also plays a key role in managing rental waitlists for both HUD-regulated building and general occupancy units, helping to ensure timely and compliant tenant placement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate tenant records and files
- Draft and distribute tenant communications
- Assist with MOR and REAC audit preparation (on-site or digital uploads)
- Support tenants with documentation for subsidies (e.g., family composition letters, ledgers)
- Assist with legal updates and attend hearings as needed
- Follow up on HUD recertifications and ensure compliance
- Serve as a liaison to tenants regarding leases, rent, and payment options
- Facilitate tenant move-ins and transfers
- Manage rental waitlists for HUD buildings and general occupancy units
- Coordinate with the Director of Maintenance on work orders and emergency scheduling
- Manage utility service transitions for vacant units (e.g., Con Edison)
- Order and maintain office supplies
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in property management or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Yardi software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage tasks without close supervision
- Timely response to email and phone inquiries, requests, and complaints
