The University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg Police provide protection services to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and guests of the University. Duties of the Campus Police include protection of the campus community, enforcement of federal, state, and local laws, and enforcement of parking rules and regulations. The police department is committed to keeping students, faculty, staff, and the entire Pitt-Greensburg community safe. Conveniently located in the Police and Safety Center, which is connected to Smith Hall, the department is staffed full-time, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.


Enforces all state laws, seeks out illegal activities, responds to violations of law. Responds to telephone calls requiring law enforcement, investigates suspicious activity, patrols campus, and attends mandated trainings. Manages traffic, makes lawful arrests, and testifies in legal proceedings.

Responsibilities include ensuring public safety in a multi-cultural environment. Police Officer duties include vehicular and foot patrol of university property; enforcement of criminal and traffic laws; protection of persons and property; investigation of crimes; completion of police reports; testimony in court; and assistance to other law enforcement agencies.

A physical fitness examination requiring running, jumping, sit-ups, and pushups is required. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and firearms. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or other related field from an accredited college or University and must have obtained Pennsylvania Act 120 certification prior to appointment; possess a valid PA driver’s license; as well as a safe driving record.
