Job Summary:
The Jr. Construction Manager is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and oversight of field construction activities for multiple projects and crews, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans, company standards, and EH&S regulations. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, the Superintendent acts as the bridge between project leadership and field operations, supervising Field Supervisors and supporting crew performance, material readiness, scheduling, and quality control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily construction site activities and operations across multiple active job sites/
- Supervise and support Field Supervisors in managing crews, assigning tasks, and maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Ensure projects are on schedule and within scope by monitoring timelines, coordinating labor and materials, and communicating status updates with the Construction Manager.
- Perform site visits to verify project progress, ensure adherence to drawings/specs, and assist with troubleshooting field challenges.
- Assist with job kick-off and close-out processes, including job start meetings, daily reporting reviews, and final inspections.
- Support the Construction Manager in implementing field efficiency initiatives and promoting continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with the Project Management team to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and resources.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Field Supervisors and crew members to ensure proper execution of welding, tank erection, and piping tasks.
- Conduct quality and safety audits, and enforce EH&S practices.
- Maintain accurate field documentation and support reporting requirements related to job status, incidents, or delays.
- Participate in hiring decisions, weld test evaluations, and skills assessments of field personnel as needed.
- Participate in monthly project meetings, safety meetings, and field or crew scheduling as needed.
- Travel to job sites regularly monitor progress and provide on-site leadership support.
Qualification/Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of steel tank construction, field welding, mechanical piping, and wastewater treatment plant systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documentation.
- Proven ability to lead teams and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated commitment to field safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Strong and successful problem-solving skills and leadership skills.
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite and ERP software.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
Education/Experience:
- Construction management experience preferred
- Experience managing field crews, metal welding projects and reading/interpreting blueprints required
- CDL license highly preferred.
- Crane and Forklift Certification highly preferred
- Water/Wastewater experience a plus
- Should have familiarity with all Microsoft Office, teams, and ERP systems for data entry, communication, and presentations.
