The Steward Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Executive Steward in the direction and coordination of all activities and provides assistance to the staff of the Stewarding department to ensure all established service standards and procedures of the hotel are implemented consistently, leading to guest and staff satisfaction and profit for the hotel.
Essential Functions
To perform the Steward Supervisor position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead, teach, coach and inspire our Stewarding team for the evening shift
• Ensure Stewarding associates arrive for their shift on time, are well groomed and ready to work
• Assign work station to all Stewarding team during line-up and pass on events and information
• Ensure Stewarding associates are following the proper procedures and standards set in place by the department and the hotel
• Responsible for the opening and closing shift
• Ensure that all Kitchens are Cleaned, Organized and sanitized
• Ensure all daily tasks list are completed
• Ensure inter-departmental communication and cooperation in the interest of better guest satisfaction
• Ensure that garbage & recycling removal is being done in a timely manner and done according to the rules set in place by the hotel
• Assist in the correct usage of all chemicals within the department and outlets, including appropriate training
• Assist any outlets and culinary team for any kind of resource request
• Ensure all equipment is cleaned, maintained and properly stored after an event
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings
• Ensure all storage rooms are kept clean and organized
• Foster an environment of cooperation within the department and between other departments within the hotel.
• Encourage participation and input from all associates while promoting professional work habits that will ensure that the department is being guided at all time by Hotel Monteleone’s Mission, Vision and Values
• Have a proactive eye for detail and cleanliness
• Actively participate in hotel committee (Service plus, environmental, learning, Health and Safety…)
• Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the hotel health and safety program
• Follow department policies, procedures and service standards
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Other duties as assigned

Language Ability
• Effectively interact and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds

• Write simple correspondence
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other associates of the hotel
• Must understand English
Math Ability
• Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Compute rate, ratio and percent
• Draw and interpret bar graphs
Reasoning Ability
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Computer Skills
• Working knowledge utilizing computers with Delphi, Ultipro, Word and Excel
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Must demonstrate the ability to supervise hourly associates and contract associates in the Stewarding department
Work Environment
• The work schedule varies and may include working weekends and holidays
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
• May be exposed to adverse temperatures to include heat and
Physical Demands
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pound
• Frequently stand, walk, use hands to fingers, handle or feel
• Occasionally reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or craw
Position Status and Availability
• Available to work a full-time, evening (PM) shift, Monday – Sunday including holidays
Education and Experience Requirements
• A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• At least two (2) years of customer service experience
• At least two (2) years of supervisor experience or
• At least five (5) consecutive years working as a Steward in preferably in a hotel’s restaurant
