POSITION: Assistant Restaurant Manager
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Restaurant Manager
About the Role
Wintergreen Resort is seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager to help lead our high-volume dining operation in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. From live entertainment to breathtaking views, our restaurant is a guest favorite, and this role is key to ensuring a memorable dining experience.
As the Assistant Manager, you’ll partner closely with the Restaurant Manager and Director of Food & Beverage to support daily operations, guide staff, and maintain the highest standards of service, quality, and efficiency.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with staffing: hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, discipline, and terminations when needed.
- Support administrative duties including payroll, scheduling, inventory, and completion of HR and labor-related forms.
- Monitor costs for food, liquor, beer, and wine, ensuring budget goals are met.
- Develop, update, and implement training programs to elevate staff performance and guest satisfaction.
- Lead shift operations: opening, closing, line-ups, reservations, and customer service.
- Oversee cleanliness, safety, and compliance in all areas of the restaurant.
- Cross-promote other Wintergreen outlets and services to enhance guest experience.
- Act as host, busser, bartender, or server when business needs demand.
- Ensure proper handling of deposits, payment transactions, and tip-out records.
- Communicate effectively with staff, management, and the Director of F&B.
- Attend weekly F&B meetings and resort training seminars.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven ability to support restaurant operations and manage diverse teams.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of budgets, accounting, and restaurant operations.
- Firm but professional approach to problem-solving and staff management.
- Commitment to guest service with a positive, hands-on leadership style.
- Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Schedule
This position requires availability on days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift 20–40 lbs.
