Our Treasury & Fixed Income team is responsible for managing fixed income portfolios and developing alpha-generating strategies that support the financial objectives of our clients. We work exclusively for the NSW Government and public sector entities, championing the financial interests of the state and delivering sustainable returns.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Treasury & Fixed Income, the Senior Portfolio Manager will lead the management of inflation-linked and nominal bond strategies while also contributing to the development of new alpha-generating strategies. This role is accountable for delivering performance aligned with client investment objectives and will play a key role in shaping the Treasury & Fixed Income investment process.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the management of inflation-linked and nominal bond portfolios to deliver beta and generate alpha within client constraints
  • Developing and implementing new investment strategies through research, quantitative analysis, and stakeholder engagement
  • Supporting the evolution of the Treasury & Fixed Income investment process
  • Acting as a thought leader and subject matter expert within the Investments team
  • Driving end-to-end strategy development from idea generation to back-testing and implementation


Key Capabilities and Experience

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Over 7 years’ experience in financial markets, with a strong track record in managing fixed income portfolios and generating excess returns
  • Advanced programming skills and experience with investment management platforms such as Bloomberg and Blackrock Aladdin
  • Strong quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills in complex environments
  • Experience in trading bonds, derivatives, and currencies
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline, with postgraduate study such as CFA preferred
  • AFMA accreditation or willingness to complete during probation
