Position Summary:
The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for supervising the build and assembly of mechanical components used in tooling for an individual project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a subject matter expert in the build and installation of mechanical systems.
- Lead and mentor mechanical assembly teams through effective communication, coaching, and training. Supervise day-to-day build and assembly activities for all mechanical equipment. Monitor and guide accurate time reporting through the ERP system.
- Allocate tasks and responsibilities based on employee skill sets, project needs, and deadlines. Foster a collaborative and accountable work environment through regular check-ins, performance feedback, and mentorship.
- Ensure teams have the tools, materials, and training needed to meet assembly requirements for time, cost, and functionality.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and direct necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Develop procedures, work instructions, and training plans for new equipment and processes. Maintain documentation and report changes in line with company procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Track and report departmental performance metrics. Collaborate with other departments to meet production targets and resolve issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment following 6S principles. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience & Education:
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical experience in building and integrating automated assembly systems.
- At least 3 years of experience leading or managing machine tool assembly teams.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and layout equipment accordingly.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical standards, tooling assembly, and setup.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
Work Environment: This position operates in both an office and a manufacturing site environment. This is a safety sensitive role, which includes working around moving equipment and machinery.
Work type & Expected hours of work: Regularly works on-site at local Paslin locations. Work schedules typically start at 6am Monday - Friday. This position is for regular, full-time work and may require coming in early, working late, or working on weekends to meet the needs of the business.
Role Experience Level: Mid-level professional with 3–5 years of relevant industry experience
Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and twist. Occasionally required to lift/push/pull up to 45lbs.
Direct Reports: This position reports to the Plant Manager and does have direct reports.
Travel: This position requires flexibility to report to multiple Paslin sites. During an installation project this role will require overnight travel to customer sites for periods of up to 12 days at a time. Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to sites in USA, Canada and Mexico.
