The YMCA of Greater Whittier is seeking fun, energetic and dedicated coaches for our youth basketball program.
We work with children and teenagers from ages 5 to 14, helping them develop fundamental basketball skills. We emphasize growth, teamwork and creating a fun, inclusive environment for all participants.
Coaching responsibilities:
- Plan and lead dynamic practices, incorporating drills and activities that target different skills
- Foster participation, inclusion and teamwork among players
- Give feedback to help players and teams improve their performance
- Lead and instruct teams on game days
- Ensure player safety and compliance with facility protocols
- Help with equipment and setup for practices and game days
- Support other coaches, volunteers and staff as needed
Schedule: 4pm-8:30pm Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
Pay: $16.50-$18.50 depending on experience
Must have:
- experience working with kids
- experience playing basketball
- comprehensive knowledge of basketball fundamentals
- a positive and enthusiastic attitude
- adaptability / creativity in organizing activities
- ability to lead large groups of people
- strong initiative
- professionalism
Preferred:
- previous basketball coaching experience
- sports coaching experience
