The Non-QM Operations Assistant is responsible for managing and tracking all physical and electronic documents used as collateral for mortgage loans. This role involves ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and security of mortgage loan documentation throughout the entire loan lifecycle, from purchasing to sale.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receives incoming packages containing original loan notes and other critical documents from the originating lenders and title companies. Verifies all required documents are present and correctly executed.
- Reviews all collateral documents, including but not limited to, original notes and allonges, and assignment of mortgages, to confirm accuracy and completeness. This includes checking for correct endorsements and ensuring documents match the loan file.
- Prepares collateral packages with a bailee letter for delivery to investors and/or custodians.
- Addresses and resolves any issues or deficiencies identified by investors and/or custodians in a timely manner. This might involve obtaining missing or incorrect documents or re-shipping collateral packages to new investors.
- Engages in frequent communication with the originating lenders, custodians, and investors to coordinate shipments, resolve problems, and provide status updates.
- Accurately updates the collateral tracking worksheet with the status and location of collateral files.
- Adheres to all company policies, investor requirements, and federal and state regulations related to the proper handling and delivery of loan collateral.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, required.
- 1-2 years’ experience in the mortgage industry, preferred.
- Prior experience with loan servicing software and/or document management systems, preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to enhance process efficiency.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
