Role Overview

The Lead Manufacturing Specialist (Material Plan & Execution) will coordinate and expedite the flow of material within the shop according to production schedules. The role has responsibility to plan and schedule material/production needs as well as release/execute material work orders. A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills. As a lead, you'll provide informal guidance to team members and be expected to take on the more challenging production control assignments.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage master planning and material processes and systems, which includes preparing and updating production schedules and purchasing plans. 

  • Ensure operational alignment with production plans and KPIs, which includes optimizing inventory and process improvements.

  • Manage work orders in accordance with the production schedule from release to completion, including shortage tracking, scrap replacements, and outside processes.

  • Relay material shortages to the sourcing and planning functions and communicate shortage impacts to the operations/production team through fulfillment.

  • Maintain a status of all work in process (WIP). Coordinate with the production supervisor/coach on upcoming work order releases to align with the production schedule and customer commitments.

  • Attend regular operating rhythms and be prepared to discuss material status, delinquency/delivery, and schedule changes.

  • Participate in and lead process improvement projects, value stream mapping events, and Kaizen events/projects.

  • Work in cross-functional teams to support the production personnel, identify issues, implement corrective actions, and drive lean initiatives/improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in material management)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in material management

Preferred Qualifications

  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) or equivalent.

  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Strong knowledge of material planning principles, inventory management, and supply chain processes.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems, ideally Oracle, and advanced Excel skills.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
