Jhpiego is a non-profit global health leader and an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, saving lives, improving health, and transforming futures. We partner with governments, health experts, and local communities to build the skills and systems that guarantee a healthier future for women and families. Jhpiego translates the best science and practices into moments of care that can mean the difference between life and death for women and families—the moment a woman gives birth; the moment a midwife helps a newborn to breathe. Through our partnerships, we are revolutionizing health care for the world’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable people.
In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state governments, providing technical assistance in areas such as family planning, maternal and child health, strengthening human resources for health, and addressing non-communicable diseases. These programs are funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), MSD for Mothers, and other anonymous donors.
As part of this agenda, Jhpiego is implementing a flagship, multi-phase research study titled “Understanding the Effect of Accreditation on Maternal and Perinatal Health Outcomes, with a Focus on Mixed-Health Systems.” The project, funded by MSD for Mothers and delivered in partnership with the World Health Organization and Ariadne Labs, will address critical evidence gaps on how accreditation influences clinical outcomes, patient experience, and system-level performance.
The project involves developing global case studies, designing hospital accreditation models using a human-centered care approach, overseeing field operations, and analyzing data from a cluster-randomized trial and implementation research. It will conclude with the dissemination of results at both the global and national levels. Within this framework, the Senior Research and Learning Officer will play a key role in ensuring methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and the collection and analysis of high-quality data. This position provides the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge implementation science with direct implications for maternal and newborn health policy and practice in India and worldwide.
