Location: 850 W. 1700 S. Suite #1, SLC, UT 84104 | Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm| Type: Full-Time | FLSA: Non-Exempt

Utah Community Action is looking for a Certified Residential Energy Auditor / Quality Inspector to join our team! In this role, you'll perform energy audits on low-income households, conduct quality inspections, and guide energy retrofit installations that help families save money and live more comfortably.
What You'll Do & What You Bring
- Perform certified residential energy audits using diagnostic testing equipment.
- Inspect completed projects for quality, safety, and compliance with state, federal, and agency standards.
- Prepare detailed work orders for crews to install recommended energy-saving measures.
- Coordinate with code enforcement and community professionals to conduct inspections and facilitate project closeouts.
- Maintain and properly use agency vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Document and verify that all work and client files are complete and accurate.
- Apply expertise in energy efficiency, construction, and residential building systems.
- Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
- Exercise sound judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a positive, productive team environment.
- Comfortably work with diverse populations and community professionals.
- Use computers, spreadsheets, and work order software efficiently.
- Maintain a valid Utah driver's license and current insurance.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of experience and education).
- 1 year of related experience.
- Certifications: BPI Quality Control Inspector, Energy Auditor certification, lead inspector, OSHA-10, and Rocky Mountain Gas Association (RMGA). Must be obtained within 9 months if not currently held.
- Valid Utah driver's license.
Bonus Points (Preferred but Not Required)
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Prior Weatherization experience.
Driver's License, Insurability & Travel Requirements
A valid, unrestricted driver's license must be maintained, and the individual must remain eligible for vehicle insurance coverage. Travel may include using personal or agency vehicles for program-related transportation.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position combines office-based work with frequent client home visits. The role requires:
- Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, crawling, reaching, driving, and pushing/pulling.
- Lifting and carrying 50+ pounds.
- Occasional running and extended periods of sitting.
Candidates should be prepared for a hands-on, active work environment that includes both field and office responsibilities.
