POSITION: Coordinator of Special Services
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education required; Master’s degree preferred

Minimum 5 years of experience as a special education teacher (preferred)

Administrative certification and leadership experience (preferred)

Knowledge of current laws, policies, and procedures related to English Language Learners, 504 Plans, and IDEA Special Education services

Strong work ethic and commitment to student success

Effective communicator with the ability to build relationships across diverse populations and the broader community
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under limited direction, provides leadership in planning, developing, and implementing special education and related services to ensure the district meets the diverse needs of students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Director of Special Services in ongoing needs assessment and implementation of best practices to influence positive outcomes for children with diverse learning needs
- Provide coordination of professional development for special services personnel in collaboration with regular education staff
- Provide monitoring and coordination of Homebound/Home-based services /programming for medically fragile children, children with medical issues requiring short term homebound services, children with disabilities and children with disciplinary removals
- Oversee Medicaid Billing, Child Find, COSF reporting, Services to Preschool ages 3-5
- Oversee placement in alternative/special schools and satellite classes
- Serve as Director’s designee, when necessary, to chair resolution meetings, mediations, facilitated IEP meetings and Manifestation Determination meetings
- Attend national, state, and local administrative meetings and present new information as it pertains to the district’s needs for students with special learning needs (IDEA, 504, ESOL)
- Oversee Enrich online IEP solution reflecting IDEA identification and placement procedures which conform to state and federal law
- Assist Director of Special Services in monitoring and implementing Title III and IDEA federal budget applications, annual OCR and 504 reports
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as decided by immediate supervisor

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conducts duties in an office environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that required constant attention, and meeting deadlines. Physical demands are restricted to office work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment. Nature of job requires frequent use of computer and monitors for long durations.
