Job Description

This position is with our Advanced Development Program (ADP), known as the historic Skunk Works, i Palmdale, CA. We are looking for world-class talent for this position to join the 75+ year tradition of creating advanced aircraft. The candidate will join an ADP effort as a Systems Engineer. Candidate must be able to concurrently handle multiple and widely varying assignments and will be part of a fast-paced, dynamic environment exploring state-of-the-art technical solutions that will include Agile and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Basic Qualifications

The selected candidate will provide systems engineering support, to include but not limited to requirements tracking, risk management, architecture evaluation, and airworthiness for an ADP program. A qualified candidate will work across multiple disciplines, suppliers, and users to ensure all aspects of the project are covered with appropriate requirements, including conducting technical trade studies to determine requirements. Understanding of industry-standard requirement formulation, decomposition, flow-down, traceability, and metrics is important, as is the ability to work with functional experts and generate verification and validation plans for requirements. The selected candidate will be part of the Skunk Work’s Digital Transformation efforts, including implementing and applying MBSE throughout the SE process. The selected candidate will work with senior engineers to understand the overall program and engineering execution.

Must engage professionally and effectively with senior management. Must be able to successfully meet deadlines and execute to a strict timeline.
Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Final Secret Clearance investigation within the last 5 years with ability to or in the process of obtaining a Top Secret SAR/SAP clearance.
Experience in Mission Systems (MS) system design and development
Experience executing in a digital engineering environment (i.e., MBSE and digital twin)
Experience with DOORS, Rhapsody, 3DX, Cameo, or other digital engineering tools
Ability to work with different engineering disciplines to derive and decompose requirements
Work experience with operational modeling tools
Experience developing a system architecture
Experience using software tools (such as MS Excel, JIRA and Access)
Experience with systems engineering processes
Good written and verbal communication with experience in writing requirements

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $98,300 - $170,315. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
