Description

 The Atlanta History Center is seeking a customer-focused, technically skilled, and collaborative professional to join our team as Digital Services Manager


The Digital Services Manager will be responsible for fulfilling customer inquiries and orders for archival collections, including photographs, postcards, maps, and architectural drawings. This role also provides essential support to Atlanta History Center staff by contributing to exhibitions, digital content, publications, and other projects. In addition, the Digital Services Manager oversees licensing agreements and ensures efficient, accurate delivery of digital services.

Requirements

  •  Produce high-quality scans and digital photography of collection materials in accordance with customer specifications for both digital delivery and print output, ensuring timely completion. 
  • Ensure digital files and print outputs meet established quality standards for resolution, color accuracy, and format consistency. 
  • Advise and support customers in using the online image database and other research tools to locate images for personal, professional, and commercial purposes. 
  • Manage image licensing and usage rights for professional and commercial projects. 
  • Provide regular updates on project progress to staff and customers while balancing multiple concurrent projects. 
  • Oversee and maintain inventory of hardware (cameras, lenses, lighting, scanners, printers), software, and supplies essential for digital services. 
  • Develop and implement workflows to streamline or automate the creation and distribution of digital assets. 
  • Prepare and maintain accurate sales and activity reports. 
  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with colleagues, donors, volunteers, senior managers, and trustees, demonstrating professionalism, tact, and discretion. 
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, ACR, Bridge, Premiere, Acrobat) across Mac and PC environments. 
  • Advanced skills in digital image editing and retouching, including color and tonal correction, masking, image restoration, and preparing files for both print and electronic output. 
  • Intermediate experience in still and motion photography, with knowledge of both digital and film cameras. 
  • Familiarity with film, print, and media technologies, including resolution, compression, color profiles, image size, and formats. 
  • Knowledge of proper handling techniques for historic documents, photographs, and other fragile materials. 
  • Ability to work with a wide range of subject matter, including images that may be sensitive, emotional, or challenging. 
  • Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills for engaging both specialized audiences and the public. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service and to work diplomatically with individuals from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Creative problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required; academic background in history or a related field preferred. 
  • Availability to work a standard 37.5-hour weekly schedule.
