Nursing Supervisor (Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt)

Location: San Juan Capistrano, California
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (On-call required for emergencies)

Compensation by licensure: 

  • Nursing Supervisor I (LVN) - $72,000-$78,000; 
  • Nursing Supervisor II (RN) - $78,000-$84,000;
  • Nursing Supervisor III (Nurse Practitioner/PA) - $185,000-$191,000

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nursing Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our nursing team across multiple residential mental health treatment facilities. This role is ideal for a natural leader with strong clinical knowledge, a passion for mental health care, and a commitment to providing top-quality support and supervision to nursing staff.

You will be responsible for managing nursing operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining the highest standards of patient care in collaboration with clinical, medical, and administrative teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a healthcare team composed of various medical and medical support staff including LVN/LPNs, CMAs, and medical coordinators while coordinating schedules, time off requests, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, monitoring the quality of care provided by the nursing and medical coordination team, and ensure all direct reports are appropriately trained within their job responsibilities. 
  • Educate, advise, and implement policies and procedures related to infection surveillance, prevention, and control while adhering to all of AMFM’s licensing and accreditation protocols and abiding by National Patient Safety Goals. 
  • Manage prescribed medications while notating times and amounts of medication on patient charts while providing other basic patient care or treatments. 
  • Oversee the medical coordination of client care in partnership with AMFM’s multidisciplinary teams including clinical, medical, and operations teams.
  • Maintain the integrity of the medical and clinical record in the organization’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system by monitoring completion and accuracy of medication incident reports and chart record keeping. 
  • Document client history, progress, and other medical information while communicating as needed regarding medication updates or client presentation.
  • Observe patients while charting and reporting changes in patients’ conditions.
  • Measure and record patient vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration. 
  • Make appointments, keep records, and perform other administrative duties as assigned including inventory and requisition supplies, instruments, medications, and samples.
  • Act as on-call support for assigned region(s) regarding medical concerns, administrative processes, and intake/discharge support for the nursing and medical teams.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years or older

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing

  • Active and current Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA) licensure in the state of California.

  • 2+ years of experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting

  • Prior supervisory or management experience in a healthcare setting

  • Successful completion of all background checks (ADP, DBHDS, DSS, etc.)

  • Possess valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by our auto insurance policy which includes, but not limited to, the following requirements: 4 continuous years of driving experience, 21 years of age or older, less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, and no more than 1 major violation in the last 3 years.

  • CPR/First Aid certification and current TB clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Familiarity with BestNotes or other EHR systems

  • Experience with regulatory compliance and licensing standards

  • Strong understanding of mental health treatment and co-occurring disorders

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills

  • Professional demeanor with ability to handle sensitive situations with care and confidentiality

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat

  • Strong attention to detail in documentation and compliance-related activities

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and manage multiple priorities
