We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Captain to operate commercial catamarans for marine excursions departing from Lāna‘i. This role includes navigating and managing vessels for activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, whale watching, and sunset cruises. The ideal candidate will have strong maritime skills, a passion for the ocean, and a commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties
- Safely operate and navigate a sailing or power catamaran in various ocean conditions.
- Lead daily tours including but not limited to snorkeling, scuba diving support, recreational fishing, and sunset cruises.
- Conduct pre-trip safety briefings and ensure compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations and company policies.
- Supervise crew members and ensure efficient onboard operations and customer service.
- Perform basic maintenance and safety checks on the vessel before and after each trip.
- Monitor weather and sea conditions, adjusting trip plans as needed for guest safety.
- Provide educational and engaging commentary about marine life, local history, and ocean conservation when appropriate.
- Assist in emergency situations and administer first aid if necessary.
- Maintain logs, inspection records, and other documentation as required.

Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Hawaiian waters, especially around Lāna‘i and neighboring islands.
- Experience operating commercial vessels, preferably catamarans.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Customer service-oriented with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Experience with marine tourism or eco-tourism.
- Familiarity with local marine life and reef systems.
- Fishing experience, including basic gear and catch handling.
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard Master’s License.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Valid Hawaii Driver’s License and successful review of Motor Vehicle Record
Physical Requirements:
- Must be physically fit and able to work outdoors in a marine environment for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Exposure to sun, saltwater, and varying sea/weather conditions is expected.
