We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise data architecture and data modelling solutions that support our strategic objectives. This role plays a critical part in shaping how data is structured, integrated, and leveraged across the organisation to drive insights, operational efficiency, and member-centric innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Data Architecture Solutions: Deliver enterprise Data Architecture solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals, enterprise architecture, regulatory requirements, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Develop and Maintain Data Diagrams and Models: Create and maintain data diagrams and models that accurately reflect business requirements and enable efficient data access, reporting, analytics, data science, and AI.
  • Implement Data Governance: Work closely with the Data & AI Governance Team to define and implement the data governance roadmap, including stewardship, lineage, and classification.
  • Evaluate Emerging Technologies: Assess emerging data technologies, platforms, and tools, and recommend adoption strategies
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Partner with Enterprise Architects, business analysts, data engineers, developers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure data solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Ensure Data Quality and Security: Advocate for and enforce data quality, integrity, and security standards across the organisation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Essentials

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Overall 10–15 years of experience with at least 5 years of solid experience in data architecture, data modelling, data warehousing, and enterprise data management.
  • Proven experience working with cross-functional project teams and solution architects to define and deliver data architecture requirements.
  • Experience designing and implementing data solutions across hybrid environments (on-premise and cloud).
  • Deep understanding of data architecture principles, data modelling methodologies (e.g., 3NF, dimensional, Data Vault, star schema), and metadata management.
  • Proficient in data modelling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, or similar.
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills, with the ability to write and optimise complex queries and stored procedures.
  • Experience with modern data platforms and tools, including ETL/ELT: Talend, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, Cloud & Storage: Snowflake, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, S3,  Big Data & Processing: Databricks, Spark, Hive, EMR, Databases: Aurora, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, data stewardship, and regulatory compliance (e.g. Australian Privacy Principles).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Certification in data architecture, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), or data governance frameworks is desirable.
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or DAMA-DMBOK is advantageous.
