Position Purpose and Summary
The LMS Manager will lead the development, implementation and management of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s Learning Management System (“LMS”). This role will be instrumental in bringing together various educational programs, courses and training initiatives into a unified online platform. The LMS Manager will work closely with the Sorority and other entities to redevelop and consolidate current courses and ensure engaging, scalable and effective learning experience for all members.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Leads the development and deployment of the newly acquired TopClass LMS aligning with the organization’s objectives.
• Sources and integrates external training resources or partners with third-party providers to expand learning opportunities for members.
• Functions as the main contact between the Leadership Academy Committee and the organization to align course content with goals.
• Builds communities by creating forums, study groups and webinars to foster an engaged learning community within the LMS.
• Creates training materials and user guides, and delivers training sessions for members, committees’ staff and users to ensure effective platform adoption. Provides ongoing support and troubleshooting for LMS users.
• Implements processes to ensure courses meet organizational standards and deliver a high-quality learning experience.
• Ensures courses comply with legal requirements, including accessibility standards, data protection and organizational policies.
• Partners with committees and instructional designers to develop and launch online classes.
• Recommends and sets platform policies and best practices for a consistent learning experience.
• Consults with Technology Services, the Office of the General Counsel and Compliance and the Leadership Academy Committee on enforcement of platform policies and best practices that align with the organization’s objectives.
• Assists in creating course logos and visual assets to maintain consistent branding.
• Monitors course participation, feedback and outcomes to enhance the learning experience.
• Collaborates with internal and external technology staff and vendors to integrate the LMS with systems such as iMIS, collaboration tools and content management systems for a seamless user experience.
• Assists with maintaining the LMS budget, contracts and licenses, and recommends cost-effective solutions.
• Gathers and analyzes participant feedback to enhance course content with instructional designers and committees.
• Provides leadership with regular updates on LMS performance, participation and strategic recommendations.
• Works with Technology Services to ensure the LMS meets data security and privacy standards.
• Collaborates with the Leadership Academy Committee to design and implement strategies to promote online courses, driving member engagement and participation.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts to update courses and ensure their accuracy and relevance.
• In conjunction with the Leadership Academy Committee, shapes the strategy for ongoing improvement of the Sorority’s online learning programs and suggests new course offerings.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
• Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, information technology or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience managing an LMS, with a strong preference for experience in an educational or non-profit setting.
• Proven history in developing and marketing online training programs.
• Proficiency in LMS platforms. Experience in system selection and implementation is a
plus.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of adult learning theories, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE) and best practices.
• Familiarity with e-learning standards (e.g., SCORM, xAPI).
• Familiarity with iMIS CRM or other Association Management Systems.
• Experience with authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse committees and stakeholders.
• Creative thinker with a passion for innovative learning solutions.
• Must be able to travel as necessary for events where staff participation is required.
• Relocation assistance is not available. Must reside within a 50-mile radius of National Headquarters within six (6) months of start date.
