Responsibilities:
The Kitchen Aide (Dietary Aide) is a critical position within our Dining Services Department ensuring each resident is served high quality, nutritious meals throughout the day. The Aide assists the Cook in the preparation and delivery of each meal, ensuring proper food temperatures are taken, and that each meal is served with a smile! Following meal service, the aides work together to clean the kitchen area daily and in accordance with all food safety guidelines. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Plate and serve all food properly according to the established recipes, utilizing proper portion control
Clean/wash cooking equipment in kitchen
• Transport food and non food items to and from assigned country kitchen as directed
• Understand and follow nutrition guidelines outlined within each resident's meal order form
• Knowledge and understanding of menu’s and recipes
• Knowledge and execution of proper food handling techniques
• Garnish all plates, presentation is important
• Hold all food at proper temperatures to ensure food is presented attractively
• Cover, label, and date all food to be stored in the refrigerators and freezers
• Take food and supply inventory daily (or as directed) and provides storeroom staff par stock order as directed
• Maintain the temperature log system, and follow up with appropriate staff upon if results fall outside the boundaries
• Recognize problems and work towards improving systems and procedures
• Inform supervisor or manager of any problems relating to missing or defective equipment
Requirements
No experience necessary! Must possess a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic! However, prior kitchen work experience is preferred and pay is based on experience. High School/GED diploma preferred. 1-2 years work experience, preferably within a restaurant or nursing home preferred. Ability to read, speak, understand English required.
