Description
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Beacon’s non-ferrous (NF) warehouse. This position leads their team to ensure that shipping, receiving, quality, and inventory goals are met with speed, accuracy, and safety. The Warehouse Supervisor must embody Beacon’s leadership standards by taking full ownership of the team through LMA (Lead, Manage, and hold Accountable), and consistently driving throughput, material accuracy, safe work habits, and a hands-on approach.
This role reports to the General Manager and collaborates closely with Dispatch, Commercial, and Maintenance teams to keep the warehouse flowing and productive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise the NF metal processing team and ensure all direct report understand their roles, expectations, and daily responsibilities.
- Set the tone for the day by communicating production goals, updates, safety alerts, and promote team engagement.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback to direct reports.
- Coach underperformance promptly and reinforce safety, quality, and accountability standards.
- Coordinate with the General Manager on daily production needs (baling, shearing, plasma cutting, boxing).
- Coordinate daily shipping and receiving activity, keeping track of outbound trucks and ensuring materials are available and staged properly.
- Monitor material quality, assisting the quality inspector by checking inbound loads and watching for contamination or misgraded material.
- Track inventory levels and work closely with the NF Seller to ensure enough trucks are booked to keep the warehouse flowing and bins turning.
- Tag finished products and inspect final bales, boxes, and bins before shipment to confirm readiness and quality.
- Communicate daily with Commercial and Dispatch teams, providing updates on dock availability, trailer needs, material issues, or delays.
- Track daily and weekly production metrics for the baling crew and identify potential issues impacting performance, whether mechanical, material, or interpersonal related.
- Act as a Maintenance liaison, reporting any equipment issues that impact safety or productivity, and helping facilitate preventative maintenance as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse, holding team accountable for good housekeeping and safe material staging.
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a warehouse environment, exposed to fluctuating temperatures, noise, and dust. Work is fast-paced and hands-on, with changing priorities based on trucks schedules and material flow.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or metals recycling environment.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a lead or supervisory role, preferably with responsibility over team coordination, shipping/receiving, and/or production scheduling.
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to lead and coordinate small teams for production tasks
- Excellent communication skills
- Solid understanding of non-ferrous metal grades is preferred, or ability and willingness to learn.
- Quality control procedures
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple outbound and inbound loads, prioritize dock space, and maintain clear staging areas.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 25lbs frequently, and up to 80lbs occasionally
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and operate equipment in varying temperatures and tolerate exposure to dust, metal fragments, and noise.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
