Job Description:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced characterization engineer for our silicon carbide power semiconductor team. As a characterization engineer you play a critical role in developing innovative power semiconductor components (SiC PowerMOSFET) for use in the automotive electronics, under tight timing with demanding customers in the automotive market. You will work in a simultaneous engineering (SE) team for particularly energy-efficient components for battery-based or fuel cell-based drives.
You will coordinate measuring high-performance SiC power semiconductors, perform characterization measurements, create the test reports and report in the SE team. Furthermore, you will be involved in the scaling of the lab as we grow in this fast-paced market.
You will understand the function and switching properties of power semiconductors and the measurement technology used. In close cooperation with the application engineers, you define standardized measurements and evaluations, create graphical representations and tables and generate automated measurement reports. Being responsible for the correctness of the content of the datasheets you evaluate and present the results in the SE-team and in front of internal and external customers.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Characterization measurements of power semiconductors based on silicon carbide.
- Planning and Execution of lab activities within an international team.
- Scaling of lab facility including release of new measurement equipment according to the Bosch requirements for the automotive market.
- Close coordination with the project manager and application expert in the product areas to consider costs, deadlines and quality, and to assess project risks regarding technical feasibility, effort of change requests.
- Selection of the measurement technique and/or assessment of suitability.
- Participation in project reviews to present technical content.
- Completed university studies (Bachelor, Master or equivalent) in electrical engineering, semiconductor device physics, or the equivalent in education.
- 0-4 years exp in semiconductor device characterization.
- Sound knowledge of power semiconductor devices (MOSFETs) as well as characterization methods and measurement techniques thereof.
- Experienced user of MATLAB and LabView.
- Proven track record in problem-solving.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Communicative team player with entrepreneurial mindset. Able to coordinate teams and high degree of willingness to work across international departments
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of power semiconductor manufacturing processes desirable
- Knowledge of PCB design or Altium Designer desirable
- Travel (including internationally) as needed.
- Knowledge of German language (speak, write, read) is a plus.
- This role will work on site in Roseville, CA.
- This position works Monday- Friday, additional hours as necessary.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000-$100,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc. Your Recruiter can share more details about the specific salary range for this position during the interview process
