About the Department

The High School Partnerships Student Employee provides technical and clerical support for the assigned department. Coordinates typing, computer entry and varied communicative and records processing work in direct support of the  High School Partnerships department. Must be able to communicate effectively  in person, in writing (including email) and  by telephone. Other clerical duties as assigned.  


Supervision Received:    Supervision will be provided by Assistant Director of High School Partnerships and High School Partnerships staff. 

Supervision Exercised:  None
 

Position Duties

1.  Maintains the security and confidentiality of all sensitive materials.
2. Maintains and applies current technical skills and knowledge in assigned computer technology areas to remain informed and be helpful to staff.
3. Sets up and maintains a variety of records and files of a nature appropriate for the operation of the assigned area.
4. Drafts and sends letters, student communications, and prepares mailings and emails.
5. Assists with Excel spreadsheet creation and data entry.
6. Composes, formats, and edits routine documents such as correspondence, reports, minutes, memoranda, applications, and other materials.
7. Organizes and helps to set-up special events and meetings as assigned, including prepping materials
8. Performs other duties as assigned.  

Specific Duties: 
1.  Prepares and organizes department flyers.
2. Provide assistance with program tracking, student records, teacher records, and school information.
3. Provides information to staff, faculty, administrators, students, and the general community regarding College Now.
4. Scanning documents into student files. 

Minimum Qualifications

Education:  Must be a currently enrolled RCC student with 6 credits or more and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.

Experience: 
1. Experience in an office-type environment

Knowledge of: 

1. Completion of CS120 preferred.
2. Basic computer and typing skills are required.
3. Knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Word mail merge is a plus.

Ability to:  
1. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
2. Excellent spelling, grammar, and communication skills.
 
Physical Demands of Position(for non-manual positions)
 
Manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 50%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials less than 5 lbs. daily and 5-25 lbs. occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

Working ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate.
