About the Department
This is the third of five levels in the Human Services series.
Incumbents identify available resources for clients, track client progress and participation, Responsibilities may include; providing direct service to clients; ensuring services adhere to policies, rules and regulations; processing changes to client status; assessing client needs; referring clients to additional community resources and social services; and performing the duties of the lower level.
Position Duties

- Assesses client needs; researches, evaluates, and recommends appropriate resources; and provides direct services to clients as needed.
- Receives and reviews social service applications for completeness and eligibility; transfers cases to appropriate individuals; monitors case and client information.
- Gathers and validates personal and financial information; maintains client confidentiality and compliance with applicable laws and regulations; determines program eligibility; processes changes to client status.
- Responds to a variety of inquiries from clients and Parish departments; provides referrals to clients as necessary.
- Tracks client progress and ensures services adhere to policies, rules, and regulations.
- Prepares, maintains, updates, and compiles a variety of operational and statistical data, records, reports, and files.
- May prioritize and assign work to lower level staff; monitor the performance of lower level staff; train staff on work methods and procedures; and develop training sessions.
- Job Specific: Provide guidance and information to clients utilizing Parish services
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree; or, High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) and two years clerical or case manager experience; or, five years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
Valid Driver's License as per State law or requirement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Incumbents may be subject to travel.
