We have a fantastic opportunity for an Employee Relations Advisor to join our existing ER team. You will be required to regularly attend our offices in Shrewsbury to allow collaborative working time with your colleagues. Regular travel will also be required to support Managers within your given support area.

 

Reporting directly to our Employee Relations Manager, the Employee Relations Advisor will provide a responsive and compliant ER advisory service, in line with Company policies and legislation to our operational management teams throughout the UK. Acting as the first point of contact and taking the lead in supporting a broad range of generalist HR related issues, the ER Advisor will be required to provide both remote and in-person support.

Role Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Handle ER cases such as disciplinary actions, grievances, absence management, probation, AWOL, flexible working, and TUPE.
  • Manager Support: Advise line managers on informal and formal ER issues, ensuring consistent and fair application of policies.
  • Policy Guidance: Ensure all advice aligns with current legislation and internal policies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of ER cases and resolutions using internal systems.
  • Training & Development: Upskill managers on handling ER matters effectively and legally.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with trade unions or employee representatives when necessary.
  • Reporting: Track ER KPIs and contribute to service improvement strategies.

 

Do you have what it takes?

Essential:

  • Able to provide remote ER support for a multi-site operation
  • Experience of providing HR advice in line with relevant policies and legislation
  • Well organised with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage high volume of case work and queries to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to write clear, understandable and concise correspondence with excellent attention to detail and telephone manner
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Understanding of customer requirements and the ability to confidently recommend solutions to problems/issues with a commercial approach where required.
  • Pro-active and practical approach to problem solving
  • Good working knowledge of current employment legislation and its application in the workplace
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office programmes

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of working within a Shared Service environment or busy HR Department
  • Understanding of HR systems/technology / HR software / CRM
  • Knowledge of working within Health Care or similar

 

Knowledge and qualifications:

  • Currently studying or have completed CIPD level 3 as a minimum and keen to progress
  • A minimum of 3 years HR experience with a good understanding and confidence when providing practical and commercial HR advice.
