The successful applicant will work on establishing the scientific and technological framework for testing the efficacy of closed-loop deep brain stimulation to improve speech and swallowing motor functions in human patients after stroke and then extend this framework to test the advantages of combining deep brain stimulation with therapy.
Responsibilities include:
1) Design and lead the scientific tests and development of a closed-loop deep-brain stimulation system.
2) Coordinate the work with industrial partners, grad students, and speech-language pathologists to ensure timely execution of project tasks.
3) Lead the writing and crafting of scientific publications describing the effect of closed-loop deep brain stimulation alone or in combination with therapy.
The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Biomedical/Neural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Neuroscience, Rehabilitation, Statistics, or a related field.
