Description
The Staff Accountant (Annuity) will develop processes and procedures for monthly reconciliations (and perform those reconciliations) between the Annuity system and the Accounting system for all Annuity funds. Perform annual evaluations for annuity funds where SSA is the recordkeeper. Other duties may be assigned to provide accurate and timely financial information to account managers, fund professionals and clients.
Responsibilities
- Review transactions and reports and reconcile against fund financials.
- Develop detailed annual evaluation procedures from plan documents for each plan
- Collaborate with other managers on processes and procedures.
- Coordinate with external auditors on annual evaluations and client audits.
- Compute and record transactions in various systems.
- Reconcile multiple bank and trust account statements.
- Maintain client and accounting files.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills/Abilities:
- Two (2) year Accounting Associates Degree (4 year degree preferred).
- Five to seven (5-7) years of work experience in all aspects of accounting and analysis.
- Ability to read and understand complicated technical plan documents.
- Ability to work independently and be part of a team.
- Healthcare and ERISA trust experience helpful.
- Capable of maintaining a professional demeanor when working with different personalities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Analytical mindset.
- Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to work in multiple software applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities across multiple clients.
- Able to work under pressure and meet required deadlines.
