Position Summary:
The Loan Closing Specialist is responsible for managing the loan closing process for NMTC investments from pre-approval project intake through underwriting, closing, and funding, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with IRS and CDFI Fund standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams and clients.
The Pipeline Coordinator is responsible for communicating with internal and external industry consultants to identify potential NMTC investments that meet the mission and investment strategy of our CDE clients.
Key Responsibilities (Loan Closing Specialist):
· Review intake forms from potential QALICBs to determine if the project matches the CDE mission and investment strategy
· Perform NMTC compliance underwriting for both IRS and CDFI Fund requirements
· Analyze projected community benefits to determine if they are reasonable and attainable
· Perform high level financial underwriting to determine if the project seems financially viable
· Collect and review due diligence items from project team
· Determine if the project can reach closing by the CDE’s investment deadlines and be able to identify issues that could prevent or slow down a successful closing
· Attend closing calls and represent CDE client
· Communicate with the CDE throughout the closing process to keep it updated on the progress and any potential issues that may delay the closing
· Coordinate with deal team and outside counsel to ensure that required information and documents are received by various parties involved in the transaction
· Maintain an internal closing checklist and hold deal team accountable for required actions and information submission for a timely closing
· Review closing documents to ensure CDE’s intentions are documented accurately
Key Responsibilities (Pipeline Coordinator):
· Review the CDE’s Allocation Application and Allocation Agreement to understand the investment strategy and CDFI Fund investment parameters particular to each CDE
· Identify and maintain a pipeline of potential projects that fit the CDEs’ investment strategies
· Present the potential projects to the CDE, and advisory board if needed, and discuss the pros and cons of the project
· Review and vet potential projects proposed by the CDEs
Qualifications:
· Experience with NMTC financing
· Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
· Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to complete work efficiently and within established timeframes
· High level of attention to detail
· Strong communication skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
