The Phantom Library Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the National Medical Phantom Library, ensuring the library serves as a vital resource for the scientific and imaging communities. Medical phantoms are specialized objects that mimic human anatomy or tissue properties and play a crucial role in multiple stages of medical device and imaging technology development. The phantoms at The National Medical Phantom Library (NMPL) will be used across various sites to assess imaging system parameters such as spatial resolution, uniformity, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast resolution, geometric accuracy, and dose calibration. This role involves management of NMPL and collaborating broadly with internal and external stakeholders toward the use and development of medical phantoms. This position supports mPower’s mission to improve biomedical imaging methods and technologies and promote innovation in medical research. Job description:Management, handling, and documentation:· Maintaining detailed records of phantom studies and measurements, calibration outcomes, study protocols, and other relevant reports.· Maintaining inventory, usage logs, and conditions of phantoms, including but not limited to shipment, receiving, and storage.· Safe handling, shipping, and storage to ensure phantoms are not exposed to conditions that degrade materials (e.g., temperature, humidity, and radiation).· Documenting any damages to the phantoms or changes in phantom integrity based on the reports by users and developers, and assisting in developing plans for further characterization and validation.Stakeholder communication:· Manage intake of new phantoms and provide guidance on calibration standards and protocol development· Provide advice to the interested community and library users on the suitability and selection of phantoms for specific applications, and supporting validation of the imaging system at collaborating institutions.· Communicating with scientific and industry task forces or committees working on phantom-based imaging standards.· Collaboration with stakeholders and other agencies related to phantom development, measurement, and imaging standards. · This position may involve working at collaborating sites to directly characterize and calibrate NMPL phantoms, and may also include supporting other center activities as needed in managerial or technical roles.Qualifications required:· Bachelor’s degree or higher in biomedical engineering and imaging, health sciences, or related fields, including at least two years of experience related to stated duties.· Experience with medical imaging phantoms, in roles involving user applications or imaging system development· Ability to understand and evaluate scientific literature and perform data analysis related to imaging phantoms· Strong oral and written communication skills for engaging with both technical experts and non-specialist audiences· Preferred experience with developing and using imaging devices in modalities such as ultrasound, optical imaging, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.· Knowledge and experience with common application software, e.g., MS-Excel, MS-Word, PowerPoint, etc.· Strong communication and interpersonal skills· Ability to prepare and edit documents with limited assistance from Program Staff.· Ability to work and collaborate effectively in teams.· Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple complex projects concurrently.· Ability to set and meet deadlines, analyze quality, and multitask. mPower, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
