LifeSync (an Amphenol company), is a leading designer and manufacturer of cardiac and neurological diagnostic patient connections, and a trusted partner in custom manufacturing solutions for OEM medical device companies.

 

Headquartered in Coral Springs, Florida, with major operations in Dongguan, China, and expansion plans in Central America, LifeSync continues to grow its global footprint.

 

The Electrical Project Engineer, based in Coral Springs, FL, will play a key role in supporting both new product development and sustaining engineering initiatives. The position is also responsible for the qualification and deployment of cable test systems into production, along with troubleshooting and supporting continuous improvement of existing products and processes.

 

The ideal candidate will have medical device experience, a proven ability to plan and manage projects, and broad-based engineering skills. Success in this role requires understanding electrical design in patient cables and leadwires, demonstrating system-level acumen, applying structured problem-solving skills, and supporting cross-functional teams with versatility, quality, and execution excellence.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the electrical design subject matter expert as part of the LifeSync engineering team.
  • Lead projects for modifying existing designs and associated design history file documentation for cables, adapters and leadwires.
  • Review and approve component specifications and product drawings.
  • Contribute to new technology ideas and prototyping.
  • Support Sourcing and Supplier Quality by addressing electrical component issues (e.g., quality, obsolescence), ensuring a reliable supply chain, and driving cost-effective lifecycle management.
  • Provide technical expertise in the design and qualification of new medical patient cables, including development, review, and approval of test protocols.
  • Partner with Quality to develop test strategies, procedures, and protocols for the validation of electrical test equipment (IQ/OQ/PQ), such as automated cable test systems with Hi-Pot capability.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance procedures for electrical test equipment.
  • Design, document, and oversee the assembly of test adapter cables and devices for manufacturing test applications.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for non-conformances, including customer complaints and manufacturing defects.
  • Support resolution of non-conforming materials and contribute to Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) within area of expertise.
  • Generate and maintain accurate documentation, including engineering specifications, test plans, reports, and change control records, to support design, manufacturing, and validation activities.
  • Ensure all activities comply with FDA Quality System Regulation (21 CFR Part 820), ISO 13485:2016, Canadian Medical Device Regulations, and LifeSync’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Apply knowledge of medical device safety standards (e.g., IEC 60601-1) as applicable.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply the requirements of technical design standards in relation to LifeSync medical products.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, and Hi-Pot test systems.
  • Experience with basic tools for electrical schematic design and layouts.
  • Hands-on experience with validation and calibration of electrical test equipment, including knowledge of relevant standards and regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to methodically interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. 
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and positive approach to working with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in technical writing, including preparation of engineering documents and reports.
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of risk management principles, including application of risk analysis in validation and use of electrical test equipment.
  • Familiarity with design drawings, BOM structures, and ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic knowledge of SolidWorks CAD or equivalent mechanical design software. 
  • Experience with 3D printing and prototyping is desirable.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Not Required

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; minimum 5 years of engineering experience, including at least 2 years in medical devices.
