Essential Duties & Functions

Strategy & Development

  • Develop, own and execute on the business plan for the MGA/Program
  • Accountable for risk capacity from affiliated and 3rd party capacity providers, developing and expanding
  • Facilitate access to reinsurance markets and leverage established relationships with reinsurers to connect primary insurers with the right partners
  • Analyze market trends and data to identify opportunities for growth and improvements
  • Monitor program performance and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve desired outcomes

Leadership

  • Build and shape Underwriting philosophy, guidelines and governance for the MGA/Program
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the MGA team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and other departments to ensure seamless program execution
  • Recruit and manage a strong program team and be accountable for the results

Market Intelligence & Growth

  • Analyze market trends and data to identify opportunities for growth and improvements
  • Monitor program performance and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve desired outcomes

 Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders
  • Have a strong following and trust in the market with brokers and carriers
  • Collaborate with underwriting, claims, IT, and other departments to ensure seamless program execution

Compliance & Operational Oversight

  • Oversee the underwriting process and ensure that all policies are issued in compliance with the company's guidelines and reinsurance treaties
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in Reinsurance
  • Demonstrated success in MGA or carrier environments with program development and management
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Insurance, or related field (advanced degree preferred)

Preferred Attributes

  • Strong experience in the reinsurance industry – treaty, QS and other structures
  • Experience with property, casualty or other specialty lines
  • Strong familiarity with carrier negotiations and reinsurance structures
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to execution
