Role description:
Arcadis is currently seeking a highly experienced Lead Planner and Scheduler to play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our flagship capital projects for the energy sector. This lead planner and scheduler will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining robust project plans for major construction projects. This role ensures effective sequencing, resource allocation, and risk identification to support timely and successful project delivery. The individual will collaborate closely with the project managers, engineers, schedulers, and stakeholders on both client and contractor sides to establish and monitor baseline plans, providing strategic input throughout the project lifecycle. This role will require the ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, and multicultural environment.
Role accountabilities:
- Project Planning, Scheduling, and Progress Monitoring: Develop, implement, and maintain detailed master schedules for complex multi-asset capital projects using industry-standard tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.). Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including work breakdown structures (WBS), sequencing, and resource allocation. Collaborate with project teams to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and key milestones. Analyze project requirements, constraints, and risks, incorporating them into planning documents. Provide planning expertise during tendering, execution, and close-out phases. Develop and maintain basis of schedule to support the project plan. Develop integrated master CPM schedule, incorporating multiple owner and contractor schedules. Develop schedule and project controls specifications for the contractors in alignment with the overall contract terms. Establish and maintain baseline schedules, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements and best practices. Monitor progress against the baseline, identify deviations, and recommend corrective actions. Track project milestones, critical path activities, and key deliverables across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. Prepare and present regular progress updates, look-ahead schedules, and recovery plans to senior management and external stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Coordination and Team Leadership: Develop and baseline project schedules in collaboration with clients, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders. Work closely with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and owners to ensure schedule alignment and timely information flow. Prepare and present planning documentation, reports, and dashboards to stakeholders and senior management. Mentor and support junior planners/schedulers, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
- Risk and Impact Analysis: Identify scheduling risks related to permitting, procurement, construction logistics, and commissioning; recommend and support mitigation plans.
- Resource & Cost Integration: Integrate schedule with resource and cost plans to support earned value management and overall project controls. Align WBS, CBS and code of accounts to assure reliable and consistent performance and progress monitoring and reporting.
- Change Management: Evaluate and incorporate change orders, design revisions, and scope modifications into the schedule, assessing potential schedule impacts. Support claims and change management processes with accurate planning data and analysis.
- Compliance & Brest Practices: Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures for planning and scheduling. Lead the adoption of best practices, digital tools, and process improvements for project planning and controls.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
- A minimum of 15 years of industry experience, of which at least 10+ years in planning and scheduling large capital projects. Direct experience with power and energy projects is strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with planning/scheduling software (Primavera P6 preferred). Integration experience with other project controls and project management information systems (PMIS) is required.
- Strong knowledge of project controls, critical path method (CPM), and earned value management.
- Experience with permitting, design, procurement, and construction logistics for energy projects.
- Professional certification (PMI-SP, AACE PSP, or similar) is a plus.

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $122478 - $208212. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
