Position Summary


Rainbow Services seeks a curious, motivated professional to join our Development team. The Impact & Innovation Coordinator will support grants, fundraising, digital advertising, social media, policy advocacy, donor engagement, and digital storytelling while helping modernize systems and streamline processes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting big ideas to practical solutions, is interested in media and policy, and is eager to learn new tools (including AI) to make work more efficient and impactful. It offers a strong launchpad into careers in strategy, policy, and nonprofit innovation.

  

Key Responsibilities

  • Support grant writing, donor research, policy briefs, and proposal preparation.
  • Coordinate donor communications, newsletters, and social media content.
  • Help maintain and improve team tools (CRM, Notion, Slack, project trackers) to streamline workflows and ensure clarity across workstreams.
  • Research media, policy, and fundraising trends to inform strategy.
  • Assist with preparing documents for events, board engagement, and community partnerships.
  • Create workflows, diagrams, or process maps that help the team organize complex concepts.
  • Collaborate with staff across teams to ensure projects are efficient, accurate, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: (essential to perform the job)

  • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment
  • Must be able to communicate and exchange information effectively
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move or transport items up to 20 pounds
  • Must be able to sit at a desk and work for prolonged periods at a computer

   

Requirements


Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of professional or internship experience in communications, development, campaigns, policy, or related fields (or equivalent skills from academic, volunteer, or self-directed projects).
  • Strong writing, research, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital culture.
  • Ability to learn new tools quickly (including AI, CRM systems, or project management platforms) and apply them creatively.
  • Comfortable balancing detail-oriented tasks with big-picture, strategic thinking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Commitment to survivor-centered values, equity, and trauma-informed practice.

  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct learning and explore emerging tools.
  • Curiosity about systems, policy, and process improvement.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $28–31/hour (commensurate with experience) - Non-exempt.
