Head of Wadhurst Music
Melbourne Grammar School is seeking a Head of Music for our Middle School - Wadhurst for Term 1, 2026.
The Head of Wadhurst Music is responsible for Year 7 and Year 8 classroom music, Wadhurst choirs and oversight of the instrumental and voice program. More than a third of the students are enrolled in instrumental/vocal/theory lessons on campus with 200 places catered to each week in ensemble and choir rehearsals. The Head of Wadhurst Music is supported by a Music Administrator.
Given the nature of this position, the incumbent will be required to work outside of the traditional operational hours of the School in order to meet key responsibilities.
You will:
- Direct the Wadhurst Choir Program
- Manage and host appropriate concerts such as the Wadhurst Solos Concert, the Annual Wadhurst Music Concert, annual Carol Service, accompaniment at the annual Wadhurst Art and Music Display, and others as required.
- Prepare for and conduct classes in Music as scheduled
- Recruit students for the co-curricular music programme
- Support music items at Wadhurst events, including Graduation, House Chapel Services, House Singing and Assembly.
VIT registration, or the ability to gain this, is essential for this position.
