Boll & Branch, the home brand that reimagined luxury bedding and bath by crafting the softest, toxin-free products, is seeking a Senior Manager, Retail Operations. Working closely with the SVP Retail, you will shape how our stores run by creating smarter, more seamless ways of working—from optimizing processes and retail systems to launching new projects like omnichannel fulfillment. Serving as the key liaison between our stores and cross-functional teams, you’ll ensure operational excellence while managing budgets and enabling our store teams to deliver an exceptional experience for every customer.

This position reports to the SVP Retail. 

Responsibilities:  

Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies across all retail channels.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and optimize resource allocation.
  • Champion initiatives that significantly enhance the overall customer experience, from initial interaction to post-purchase support.

Process & Compliance:

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all retail operations.
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to all established operational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits and training sessions to maintain a high level of compliance across our stores.

Collaboration:

  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with key departments, including Retail Construction & New Store Openings (NSO), Brand Marketing, Customer Experience & Loyalty, E-commerce, and Business Operations, to ensure seamless execution of retail strategies.
  • Act as a central point of contact for retail operations, facilitating communication and alignment across various teams.
  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings and initiatives to represent the needs and insights of the stores.

Retail Systems:

  • Maximize the utilization and effectiveness of all existing store systems and technologies to streamline retail workflows and improve productivity.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new retail platforms and technologies to enhance operational capabilities, data analytics, and customer engagement.
  • Provide training and support to retail teams on new and existing systems to ensure optimal adoption and proficiency.

Omni-Fulfillment:

  • Oversee and optimize the execution of various omni-channel fulfillment strategies, including Buy Online, Ship From Store (BOLSFS).
  • Oversee, manage and improve the Buy Online, Pick-up In Store (BOPIS) process, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and a positive customer experience.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement best practices in omni-fulfillment to meet evolving customer demands and market trends.

Physical Inventory:

  • Develop and implement robust physical inventory management processes to ensure accurate stock levels, minimize discrepancies, and optimize inventory turns.
  • Coordinate and oversee regular inventory counts, reconciliations, and loss prevention measures.
  • Utilize inventory data to inform purchasing decisions and reduce carrying costs.

Retail Operations Budget:

  • Manage and monitor the retail operations budget, ensuring adherence to financial targets and prudent allocation of resources.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiencies without compromising service quality.
  • Prepare and present regular budget reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in retail/retail management is required; Ideal candidate has worked as a General Manager, District Manager, and/or Store Manager in the past
  • Possess a deep understanding of the role that the brand plays in the success of retail
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while being detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects with aggressive deadlines
  • Flexible and resourceful; proactive problem-solver; Enjoys finding ways to improve processes and procedures
  • Seamlessly builds relationships with people at all levels; can collaborate effectively and rally people toward a common goal
  • Clear and concise communicator, able to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience opening stores, as part of a team or individually, under tight deadlines
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate with vendors, partners, and contractors who support different aspects of store operations (e.g. technology, training, security, inventory, etc.)
  • Proficient in Google Suite (Gmail, Meet, Slides, Docs, Sheets) and retail platforms such as POS
  • Prior experience in retail visual design and operational project management is a plus
  • Must be able to travel to our stores and markets on a regular basis

The primary location for this role is our office in Summit, NJ or New York City. We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have flexibility to work remotely.  Currently we are operating under a hybrid model whereby all teams work in an office a minimum of two days per week (Tuesdays/Thursdays) and may be provided flexibility to work from home on other days. 

The annual base salary range for this role is $95,000 to $150,000 (new hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary range posted depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role). It is important to note that our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size, industry, and the market and are one part of the total rewards that we provide. Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, scope of the role, and internal peer benchmarking. In addition to your base compensation, you may be eligible to be part of the Company’s annual bonus program with a non-binding Company and individual performance-based target bonus.
